PROJECT DESCRIPTION: An Expeditionary Journal is a series of three sculptures that exist as a result of a focused three-week period dedicated to an open inquiry; an expedition limited by time and location, and without a clear destination. Beginning with the processes of gathering, researching, and dissecting things of wonder, this inquiry led to the production of an assortment of objects through a range of experiments with material, technology, scale, and orientation. Industrial practices such as rapid prototyping, CNC milling, and laser-cutting were synthesized with traditional drawing, painting, and sculpting strategies as well as those common to a range of sciences and engineering disciplines.
